For recruitment to government jobs, including the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), it takes up to three and a half years just to complete the examination process. It takes another seven to nine months for the gazette to be published after the final recommendation. This is increasing the frustration among the job seekers. Bangladesh Public Works Commission (PSC) has said that work is underway to reduce the long process of examination. They want to complete one exam process from 46th BCS in one year.

According to the latest data from the Bureau of Statistics, the number of unemployed people in the country is about 2.5 million. Every year more students are added to this list after completing their studies. Accordingly, new employment is being created less.

Job aspirants say that it takes three to three and a half years to complete the process of government jobs including BCS. This is increasing the frustration of the job seekers.

Public Works Commission Chairman Sohrab Hossain said that efforts are underway to reduce the time to complete all the BCS processes. From the 46th BCS, there is a plan to complete one examination per year. The PSC wants to make the final recommendation for the 44th BCS by next May. And the 45th BCS written exam will be held in January.

Not only the examination process, it takes seven to nine months after the final recommendation of BCS till the job gazette. Such long drawn out recruitment process increases the suffering of job aspirants.
