American writer Jane Carroll accused former US President Donald Trump of rape and defamation. A federal court in Manhattan ordered Trump to pay $83.3 million in damages to Carroll in this case.
This was reported in a report by the British media BBC.
According to the report, the nine-member panel of the court gave this order on Friday local time. It is said that Trump will pay $6.5 million to Carroll as punitive damages. Apart from this, Carroll will receive a total of 83.33 million dollars in damages for defamation and emotional harm.
Carroll, the victim, called the verdict a huge victory against those who abuse women.
However, former US President Donald Trump called this verdict ridiculous.
Carroll filed a lawsuit against Trump last year, accusing him of raping her in a Manhattan department store in 1996.
