Ram Mandir: Congress has become more reckless?

Facebook is recognized as the most popular social media in Bangladesh, but X or former Twitter is ahead in terms of popularity in neighboring India. Especially to the educated population. Those who actually shake the country or control the destiny. On January 22, the Ram temple built by the government on the site of the demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya is going to be inaugurated. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate. This is the first time that an Indian Prime Minister is directly involved in the inauguration of the temple.

On this occasion, Ram Mandir Trust has invited all political parties to attend the event. Some parties have said that they will participate. Congress, one of India’s largest and oldest anti-BJP parties, was in turmoil. They finally said that they will not be present at the opening ceremony of the Ram temple. Because they think that this is only a function of BJP and RSS. Ever since this decision came from the Congress side, there has been a stream of statements for and against X Handle. In this case, the decision of the Congress is the same as against the Supreme Court. They are eager to prove that the Congress party is against India’s majority Hindu population.

No party in India at the moment has the power to shake the way Hindu nationalism has firmly established itself in India, especially in northern India, after the Narendra Modi-led BJP government came to power in 2014. No political party including Congress has even tried. Rather, Modi’s theory of Hindu nationalism has become deeply rooted in the minds of the larger Hindu population day by day. On the contrary, the Congress as a political party has shyly taken the line of soft Hindutva. In this regard, the more the BJP has increased, the more temple-yatras of Rahul, Priyanka and other Congress leaders have increased. They are desperate to prove themselves as Hindus in the face of BJP’s challenge. For some days in the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, this soft Hindutva line of Congress leaders was not there. Rather, they like the more Khullam-Khulla way of BJP.

Congress leaders talk about secularism. But common people do not understand what they mean by this. Doubt even themselves understand. According to them, they do not see secularism from the western point of view. They think that secularism means equal rights for all religions. Very good thing. But what they say, they believe? not at all

Let’s talk about the ‘controversial’ Babri Masjid. Who disputed it? Congress. Immediately after India’s independence, on December 22, 1949, in the dark of night, Ramlala’s statue was placed inside the mosque, making it controversial. The then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Govinda Vallabh Panth, a great Congress leader and one of the soldiers of the anti-British struggle, locked the mosque. And permanently labeled it as a disputed site. But the day before that, prayers were held there. The main purpose of speaking so much is that Congress leaders made the issue controversial 75 years ago. Even Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru could not do anything against it. It must be remembered that the Hindu Mahasabha was banned in India. This organization is now better known as Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh or RSS. As a political party, the ideal-setting organization of the BJP is the RSS.

Amid this controversy, Mahant Raghubir Das filed a case in the district court of Faizabad for the right to worship. The case continued for decades. In 1986, the court allowed the mosque to be opened in favor of the Rajiv Gandhi government. Rajiv visited Ayodhya and tried desperately to prove himself more Hindu, following in the footsteps of ‘Machan Baba’. But his decision backfired. After that, the RSS started a long-term plan on the matter. And in 1990 it was implemented by the then president of BJP Lal Krishna Advani. He started the Rath Yatra across India by using the Rama of Kalikal to transform the modern car into a chariot. Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav blocked the wheels of that chariot. Advani was arrested.
And after that the Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir case went to the Supreme Court of India. On December 6, 1992, various Hindutva organizations sought permission to serve at the Babri Masjid site. The then BJP government of Uttar Pradesh allowed it. But for this the government has to give a bond to the Supreme Court that no one can go near the structure of Babri Masjid. The same bond has to be paid to the court in India by the government. At that time, the ruling power of India was the Congress coalition government led by PV Narasimha Rao. But no one kept their promise that day. In front of everyone’s eyes, the dome of the Babri Masjid was broken one by one by the crazy Karsevaks. Even when the Supreme Court contacted the central government, there was no response. The Congress government did not even listen to the Supreme Court’s suggestion to restore the structure of the collapsed mosque until the case was settled. The thought was, Lata is gone. No more trouble. Now the BJP has gone to the desert. But the BJP’s political popularity in North India proves how wrong their calculations were.

Now let’s see the judgment of the then Chief Justice Tarun Gogoi bench of the Supreme Court of India in the Babri Masjid-Ram Mandir case. There were several cases in this regard. One was the ownership of the disputed 2.77 acres of land. Mahant Raghubir Dasher or Sunni Waqf Board. The second issue was the prosecution of those responsible for the destruction of the mosque structure. But there was no reflection on the Supreme Court’s judgment. It was said that the 2.77 acres of land should be given to Ramjanmbhoomi Trust. Ram Mandir will be constructed there with government initiative and money. Besides, some land and money must be given to the Sunni Waqf Board within Ayodhya. So that they can build a mosque.

In response to this judgment, Justice Ashok Kumar Gangopadhyay wrote in Anandabazar, “I do not understand everything on the basis of which this judgment was given.” Supreme Court is the highest court of the country. If that court gives a verdict, there is no choice but to accept it. But I can’t find answers to many questions.”

“For 400-500 years a mosque stood in one place. That mosque was demolished 27 years ago by attacking like barbarians. And today the highest court of the country said, there will be a temple now.”
“There is a thing called constitutional morality! No such thing should be done, so that anyone’s trust is lost on the constitution of the country.”

On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi welcomed the Supreme Court verdict. He did not even mention the word “two” about temples or mosques. “It is the responsibility of each one of us to reaffirm the way mutual respect and unity have defined our society over the ages,” said Randeep Suryawala, the party’s then spokesperson. The idea is that the Supreme Court’s verdict has freed it from a huge problem. However, the Shyam Rakhi na Kool Rakhi position of the Congress was not acceptable to any Hindu or Muslim.

India’s prominent journalist Shekhar Gupta has analyzed this very well. He says that the Congress started the Babri Masjid controversy by hanging the locks; Opened the lock again and provoked controversy; The Babri Masjid structure was destroyed during the Congress regime, the Congress welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on the construction of the temple – it is the Congress that is now deciding to boycott the inauguration of the Ram Mandir, alleging the RSS-BJP event.

These things are coming up because of Lok Sabha elections in India in April-May 2024. BJP will certainly issue Ram Mandir there this time. If the BJP has to be stopped not only in the whole of India, but in North India, then it is important for the Congress to win the hearts of the majority of the Hindu population in this region. Otherwise, Ram will remain, Ayodhya will remain, BJP will remain, but Congress will not exist.
