The police recovered the hanging body of a housewife named Sampa (23) from Mohammad Bagh area of Kadmatli police station of the capital. The family claims that Sampa committed ‘suicide’ by hanging himself after quarreling with his expatriate husband.
Sampa was rescued and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital at around 11:30 on Tuesday night. The doctor on duty declared him dead after examination.
Uncle Suman who took Sampa to the hospital said that Sampa’s husband Jahangir Sardar lives in Cyprus. On Tuesday afternoon, she had an argument with her husband on the mobile phone over a family matter. Later, Sampa hanged himself by wrapping a veil around his neck with a fan in his room. After informing the police, the police came and rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical, where the doctor declared him dead.
Suman also said that Sampa has a son and a daughter. His house is in Sadar Thana area of Madaripur. She was the daughter of Swapan Bepari of that area.
When asked about this, Kadmatoli police station and sub-inspector (SI) Jinnat Ara Ruchi said, ‘We went to the spot after receiving the information. Sampa was found hanging in a five-storey house there. Later, when we rescued him and sent him to Dhaka Medical, the doctor declared him dead.
SI said, ‘Initially, we came to know after talking to the family, she may have committed suicide by hanging herself after arguing with her expatriate husband on mobile phone. However, the body has been kept at the morgue for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. It can be said after the detailed investigation.’
