Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of Great Victory Day.

The head of government paid tribute to the portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32 Dhanmondi in the capital at around 8 am on Saturday.

After paying his respects, the Prime Minister stood there in silence for a while. Later, as Awami League president, Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to Bangabandhu’s portrait with senior leaders of the party.

Earlier, the President and the Prime Minister paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at Savar National Memorial at around 6:40 in the morning. President Sahabuddin first placed a wreath at the altar. Then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

At this time, the President and the Prime Minister stood in silence for a while in memory of the martyrs of the Liberation War.

A well-armored contingent of the Army, Navy and Air Force then gave the national salute. At this time, the bugle sounded a sad tune. Cabinet members, advisors to the Prime Minister, members of parliament, chiefs of three armed forces, ambassadors and diplomats of various countries, military and civil officials of the government were present at this time.

Later, as the Awami League president, Bangabandhu paid her respects at the National Memorial along with the party’s top leaders.

Then Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad Shireen Sharmin Chowdhury and Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan paid tribute at the memorial. Now the memorial has been opened for everyone.
