Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is starting election campaign in Sylhet. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister reached the city on Wednesday morning.
Like every time, the Awami League president will start the election campaign by visiting the shrines of Haryat Shahjalal and Shahparan.
After visiting the shrine, Sheikh Hasina will hold a public meeting at the local Aliya Madrasa ground. The top leaders of the party said that Sheikh Hasina will give guidance on the election. Besides, the Awami League president will also speak about the election manifesto.
Meanwhile, the leaders and activists have been crowding the Aliya Madrasa ground of the city since Tuesday morning. Jahangir Kabir Nanak, a member of the party’s presidium, said that the Prime Minister will participate in the campaign in 8 districts of five divisions.
Nanak said that Sheikh Hasina will hold a rally in Barisal on December 29. The next day, he will campaign in his constituency Gopalganj and Madaripur. Besides, Sheikh Hasina will participate virtually in the campaign of Rangpur, Rajshahi and Chittagong divisions on Thursday.
On November 15, the election commission announced the schedule of the 12th national parliament election. In the meantime, the candidates have started campaigning after getting the symbols. According to the schedule, the vote will be held on January 7.
There are no 15 parties including BNP in this election. 29 parties including Awami League-National Party are participating in the elections. After the verification of the EC, the number of valid candidates in the election is 1 thousand 894. There is an opportunity to increase or decrease this number according to the order of the court.
