President Mohammad Sahabuddin has agreed to the army to act as a striking force in the 12th National Assembly elections.

Jahangir Alam said that in principle the President has agreed to deploy the army in the elections. However, it is yet to be determined how long the army will be deployed.
Earlier, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal reached Ganabhaban sometime after 11 am to meet the President.
This time, the Commission wants to keep the army personnel in the field for 13 days before and after the election. On December 11, a meeting was held with the chief election commissioner and the top officials of the armed forces department, the public security department of the home ministry and the top officials of the defense ministry.
In the last 11th parliamentary elections, the armed forces were deployed for 10 days before and after the polls to assist the civil administration.
