Senior Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Sumaiya Momin and Senior Assistant Commissioner Shahrukh Khan of Gazipur District Commissioner’s office conducted two mobile courts on Tuesday afternoon.

According to mobile court sources, an organization named Gazipur KG School Association organized a teacher’s rally at Sabuj Chaya picnic spot in Neel Para area of Gazipur without any prior permission. Around 11,000 teachers and their family members from different kindergartens gathered there. Lunch is arranged for all there. But according to the Election Conduct Rules, prior permission of the local administration is required to organize such gatherings.

On receiving the information, two executive magistrates raided the resort. Executive Magistrate Sumaiya Momin fined Tk 50,000 to Alamgir Kabir, founder of Gazipur Commerce College and Holy Child Law College and president of Gazipur KG School Association, Basan Police Station, for organizing such an event without prior permission.

At the same time, Executive Magistrate Shahrukh Khan also fined the picnic spot authority Tk 20,000 for the crime of allowing such an unauthorized gathering without complying with the election code of conduct.

When asked about this, Executive Magistrate Sumaiya Momin said, ‘This type of assembly is illegal during the National Assembly elections. The banner of the program contains the names of many people who are working for a candidate competing in this election. There are many teachers, who are likely to be involved in performing duties as election officers in elections. Due to these reasons, this penalty has been imposed according to the election code of conduct.
