The BPL schedule was announced today, shortly after the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the names of the players shortlisted for the IPL auction. There are a total of 333 players in the list, including only three Bangladeshi cricketers!
All three are pacers – two left-arm pacers Mostafizur Rahman and Shariful Islam, and right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed.
Mostafiz’s base price is Rs 2 crore. 75 lakhs of Taskin, 50 lakhs of Shariful. Incidentally, the maximum base price of a player in the IPL auction can be Rs 2 crore.
According to BCCI’s statement, the base price of 23 players in this auction has been fixed at Rs 2 crore, and the base price of 13 players is the second highest at Rs 1.5 crore.
Of the 333 players listed in the auction, 214 are Indian cricketers, 114 are in the ‘foreign’ quota – 2 of which are from ICC associate member countries.
There are a total of 77 vacant slots to be bought by ten IPL teams from this auction, and a total of 30 foreigners can take the teams together! The possibility of Bangladesh getting a team of three cricketers may seem unlikely.
The IPL auction will be held on December 19 in Dubai.
