The High Court has ordered to comply with the circular issued by the Directorate of Prisons in 2022, stating that no one can be put under barricade except for the violent nature of militants and top terrorists. The authorities should be careful about putting other prisoners on the ropes.

The bench led by Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam gave this order on Tuesday.

Barrister Kaiser Kamal, the lawyer of the petitioner, said that this order was given in the wake of a writ petition filed in the case of Nazmul Mridha, president of Mirzaganj Upazila Chhatra Dal of Patuakhali, being taken to his father’s funeral wearing a dandaberi.

Kaiser Kamal said, apart from this, the High Court has issued a ruling asking why it would not be unconstitutional to take Mirzaganj Upazila Chhatra Dal president Nazmul Mridha to his father’s janaza by wearing a dandaberi. The ruling will be heard on March 11.

Chhatra Dal leader Md participated in his father’s funeral in Mirzaganj of Patuakhali on January 13. Nazmul Mridha. Earlier on December 20 last year, the police arrested Nazmul Mridha in front of his house in Paschim Subidkhali village of Mirzaganj upazila. After that, the court sent him to jail after arresting him in an explosive case.

After that, the court released him on parole with time from 1 pm to 5 pm on January 13 to attend his father’s funeral. Police did not remove the handcuffs during the funeral prayer.

In this regard, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Mirzaganj police station. Hafizur Rahman said, ‘The court granted conditional bail to the Chhatra Dal leader for five hours. His leg shackles were not removed for safety reasons.’
