An old woman named Hamida Rahman (67) died after falling down in a saree from the seventh floor of a house on Green Road of Kalabagan police station in the capital. She was mentally unstable after her husband’s death, the family said.
This incident happened at around 12:30 pm on Friday. After receiving information, the police went to the spot and recovered his body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy on Saturday morning.
The deceased’s son Moshiur Rahman said, ‘My father Mojibur Rahman died two years ago. After this my mother became mentally unstable. Last night at 11:30 we all had dinner and went to our respective rooms. Later the janitor came and reported what was falling from above. Quickly we all tried to open my mother’s door but the door could not be opened. Later I broke the door and found clothes tied to the railing, mother was not in the room. Later, I looked down and saw my mother lying down in a bloody state.’
When asked about this, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalabagan Police Station Mofizul Alam said, ‘We went to the spot after getting information at night. We recovered the body of an old woman named Hamida Rahman from there. Later, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem. The victim’s son filed a wrongful death case as the plaintiff.
The OC also said, ‘Initially, after talking to the family, we found out that Hamida Rahman was mentally unbalanced after the death of her husband. He fell down and died at night from the seventh floor through the railing next to his room.
