Awam League general secretary Obaidul Quader said that there is apprehension about whether the Jatiya Party will be in the election in the end. He said this at an exchange meeting of Dhaka District Awami League in Tejgaon on Tuesday afternoon.
Quader said, ‘A lot of things are possible in democracy. Boycotting and walking out of democratic elections are everywhere in parliamentary democracy. I can’t say what will happen at this moment. Maybe if. How can I say at this point that they (National Party) will leave. Many of our party have apprehensions, people also have an apprehension about it.’
Referring to the election as challenging for Awami League, Kader said, ‘Election is very challenging for us. The country’s number one opposition is not in the election. They have not only boycotted, they are conspiring and terrorizing to rig the election. Some foreigners are also involved in this.’
Obaidul Quader said, ‘They also have long-term goals. Their geopolitical interests may also be involved here. Can create an area of their business receipts. They have an interest in dominating the region militarily, maintaining their own strength, competing with others, building air bases for some.
Awami League general secretary said, ‘Winning this election with honor is a challenge for us. This challenge must be overcome. It is now very important that the whole world reacts to the absence of BNP today so that we can cover it with participatory voter turn out and make the election peaceful.’
