Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that no leader-activist of BNP is being arrested without a warrant. He said this in response to a question from journalists at the secretariat on Sunday afternoon.
The Home Minister said, ‘We engaged the high power drone cameras there. Who beat who there, who came from where all remained on our camera. No one is being arrested without a warrant and without those engaged here.’
Asaduzzaman Khan said, ‘The party (BNP) does violence, but also talks about human rights.’
The Home Minister claimed that there were mass murders and disappearances during the period of BNP from 2001 to 2006. He said that there was a rise in militancy and terrorism at that time, but now it is not.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan also said that the police officers are being transferred as per the instructions of the Election Commission. He said, ‘Police is working as per the Commission’s request for free and fair elections.’
The Home Minister commented that Hefazet Islam will not be able to hold a rally in Dhaka if the Election Commission objects.
