New scheme added to universal pension

A new scheme called Pratya has been introduced in the Universal Pension Scheme. Employees of all self-governing, autonomous, government or homogeneous organizations are eligible for this scheme. This information was informed in a notification sent by the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday.

According to the notification, the interests of the employees in these institutions will not be affected and the existing pension benefits will remain intact. However, employees joining on and after July 1 of the current year will be compulsorily added to the Public Pension Scheme in the Verity Scheme.

10 percent of the basic salary of the employees or a maximum of 5 thousand rupees will be deposited monthly through the Prathya scheme. Those who still have at least 10 years of service can join the public pension if they want.

The government launched the universal pension system with four schemes in August last year to bring all the citizens of the country under pension benefits. The schemes are Immigration, Progress, Protection and Equality.
