Independent candidate Advocate Sohana Tahmina has announced boycott of voting in Munshiganj-2 seat due to various irregularities. He withdrew from the election by holding a press conference on the afternoon of voting on Saturday and announcing the boycott.

At that time, he accused the boat candidate of giving fake votes, throwing out agents of independent candidates, non-cooperation of Assistant Returning Officers.

Sohana Tahmina said, since the beginning of the election, a party was harassing me in various ways. My party came back through the court verdict. I got a lot of support from the people. But polling day this morning had a good start. But soon after that our agents were kicked out from the centers of various Lauhajong upazilas, polling booths were closed and fake votes were cast on a large scale, some of my workers and agents were beaten up. Despite repeatedly drawing attention to this matter, the Assistant Returning Officer in Lauhjong did not cooperate, he did not take notice of the matter.

Therefore, I am forced to withdraw from the election of such irregularities. I announced boycott. I will complain about this to the District Returning Officer.

Zakir Hossain, Assistant Returning Officer of Louhjong, said that the matter was looked into as soon as he complained. I went to the centers where he said to expel the agents and found them present. Now I don’t understand why he is making these allegations. He did not inform us in writing about boycotting vote.
