The High Court has ordered 5 percent quota for the children of freedom fighters in the medical admission test. The High Court bench headed by Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam passed the order on Thursday.
At the same time, the court also issued a rule saying why the 2 percent quota in the medical admission test should not be declared illegal.
The medical college admission test is scheduled to be held on February 9.
Last Wednesday, a person named Ahidul Islam filed a writ in this regard on behalf of the children of freedom fighters. It is said that despite the 5 percent directive, the Health Education Department is running the admission program following the 2 percent quota.
Earlier in 2015, the Supreme Court upheld the verdict given by the High Court by keeping 5 percent freedom fighter quota for admission in all medical colleges of the country.
