Motorcyclist killed by bus in Meherpur

A motorcycle rider named Mokaram Hossain (43) was killed after being hit by a bus in Meherpur. Motorcyclist Motaleb Hossain (38) was injured.

The accident took place at a place called Terail on the Meherpur-Kushtia road this Friday around 9:30 am.

Mokaram Hossain is the sales representative of ACI Foods and the injured Motaleb Hossain is the sales representative of Pran Rice Group. Mokaram’s home is in Khoksa Upazila of Kushtia and Motaleb’s home is in Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi. Akhtaruzzaman, owner of Hasina Enter Grise, Meherpur distributor of ACI Food, confirmed their identity.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, Mokaram and Motaleb were going towards Bamundi on a motorcycle from Meherpur city on Friday morning to fulfill their professional duties. When they reached Terail College, a speeding local bus bound for Kushtia hit them from behind. At that time, the motorcyclist Motaleb fell on the side of the road. But Mokaram Hossain fell under the wheels of the bus and was killed on the spot. The bus then sped away from the spot. Later the bus was impounded at Bamundi.

Gangni Police Station Deputy Inspector (SI) Atiqur Rahman said that the body is being sent to the morgue for post-mortem. The bus has been taken into police custody. The process of taking further legal action is ongoing.
