A two-year-old boy named Fardin Ahmed Abdullah died after falling from a five-storey roof in Dhalpur, Jatrabari area of the capital. When he was brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a state of unconsciousness around 5:30 pm today, the doctor in charge declared him dead after examination.
Fardin is the son of Mohibur Rahman of Bardi area of Narayanganj Sonargaon upazila. Currently, they live in Dhalpur, Jatrabari.
Muslima Begum, the mother of the deceased child, said, ‘Brother, what are you doing?’ Fardin was the youngest of my sons and daughters. Fardin’s father is an employee of a cloth shop in Jatrabari area. We have come as new tenants in the third floor of this house in Dhalpur this month. Like every day, I went to dry clothes on the roof of the fifth floor with baby Fardin. At first the landlord said there was no railing on the roof. Be careful if you go on the roof with children. But when Fardeen cried, I took him off my lap and I was just drying the clothes. Looking back, I don’t have Fardin, brother.’
While lamenting, Muslima added, ‘Then I looked around and saw my Fardin lying down. He fell down in the blink of an eye. Why did he get off my lap? Ahaare bhai just for a few seconds suddenly what happened.’
In charge of police camp of DMK Hospital. Bachchu Mia confirmed the death of baby Fardin citing the doctor. He said, ‘The body has been kept in the mortuary of the emergency department. The matter has been reported to the concerned police station.
