Morning-evening hartal of BNP is going loose in Feni. Traffic is less than other days but the situation is normal. The strike did not affect the city’s truck roads and the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
Long-distance passenger buses were seen plying on the highway. Apart from this, other cargo trucks, cover vans and small CNG traffic were visible.
On Monday night before the hartal, picketers set fire to a bus at Salahuddin intersection in Feni city. Torch processions were held in support of the hartal in different parts of the district, but they were not seen on the streets on the day of the hartal. The administration was strict in maintaining law and order. Police, BGB, RAB were seen patrolling the intersection.
District Superintendent of Police Zakir Hasan said that the situation is normal. Police have all kinds of preparations for the safety of people’s lives and property. Nothing untoward happened since morning.
Earlier, Feni District BNP Acting Convener Professor MA Khalek and Member Secretary Alal Uddin Alal called the strike through a press release yesterday afternoon.
