Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that the government will help the affected people who were burnt in fire in Tejgaon Mollabari Basti of the capital. He said these things after visiting the overflowing slums in the capital’s caravan market on Sunday afternoon.

At that time, the Home Minister said, ‘After receiving the report of the fire service, further investigation will be conducted if necessary. The government will ensure that all affected get help. Along with the administration, local political leaders are also helping the victims.

Asaduzzaman Khan also said, ‘how many poor people lived here. They lived here on welfare. Now the government and we are trying so that these people can turn around again.’

A fire broke out in Tejgaon Mollabari slum in the capital last Friday around 2.30 am. Fish and vegetable vendors of Karwan Bazar lived in this tin slum next to Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC). On receiving the information, 13 units of the fire service brought the fire under control in about an hour and a half.

Mother and son died in this midnight fire while they were sleeping. Several others were burnt in this incident.

About one and a half thousand people of Mollabari slum have become destitute in the fire. About 200 families became homeless. Although many have arranged to spend the night under the open sky, the Kulkinara are not getting enough food due to severe cold.
