Miscreants set fire to the election office of Major General (Retd.) Syed Mohammad Ibrahim, chairman of the Kalyan Party, who participated in the Jatiya Sangsad election in Koyarbil Union of Chakria, Cox’s Bazar.
The incident took place at Khojakhali CNG station market of Ward No. 5 of Koyarbil Union on Sunday midnight.
Locals said that the people saw the fire around 12 o’clock on Sunday and informed the Chakaria Fire Service. Later, the fire service came and brought the fire under control. The fire completely gutted the election office with the clock symbol and a nearby fertilizer and pesticide shop was also gutted.

However, those who set the fire in the dark of the night could not be identified, but they said that the incident may have been due to electoral revenge.
Meanwhile, confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station Sheikh Mohammad Ali said that the police have started investigation at the spot. If this fire is set for sabotage, then maximum legal action will be taken against any candidate.
It is to be noted that Chairman of Kalyan Party Syed Mohammad Ibrahim is contesting the election of Cox’s Bazar-1 Chakria Pekua constituency with the watch symbol.
