However, Chairman Hiron said that the shots aimed at him missed the target.

The incident took place in front of the chairman’s house in Chandanbari village of Chandanbari union at around 7:30 pm on Saturday. After informing the administration of this incident, the administration visited the spot.

Abdur Rauf Hiron, the victim chairman, said, ‘I was going from my house to the market next to the house. After leaving the house and passing by the pond, 8-9 persons led by Manjurul Majid Mahmud Sadi, son of Industry Minister Noorul Majid Mahmud Humayun, from two Hiace cars and an ambulance to the boat, tried to attack me. Meanwhile, Sadi fired 4-5 rounds at me. At this time, I ran behind the pile of bricks to save my life and went to my uncle’s house and locked the door. Later my uncle’s house was also attacked. As I ran away, no bullet hit my body. When the locals came out and resisted them at the sound of gunshots, they fled.’

Abdur Rauf Hiron also said, ‘I informed the police and UNO about the incident. Police and administration people have visited the spot.

The accused Central Jubo League member and Industry Minister Manjurul Majeed Mahmud Sadi did not receive a call on his mobile phone. He did not reply to the message.

Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Mostafizur Rahman said, ‘We have been informed about the matter. First I heard that Chairman Abdur Rauf Hiron fell into the water. Later I heard shots were fired.
