Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that 25 percent of the metro rail work from Motijheel to Kamalapur has been completed. Metrorail up to Kamalapur may be operational by June 2025.
Quader said these things in a briefing after the inauguration of Bangabandhu Corner at DMTCL Bhavan in Uttara’s Diabari of the capital on Saturday morning.
In the press conference, the bridge minister said that the overall progress of the MRT line-6, which is 20.10 kilometers long and has 16 metro rail stations from Uttara North to Motijheel, is 98.95 percent as of December 31 last year. The construction of 1.16 km extended metro rail from Motijheel to Kamalapur is progressing in full swing. The progress of construction work till December 31 last year is 25 percent. Hopefully, this part can be inaugurated in June 2025.
General Secretary of Awami League said that every day except Friday, metro rail will start from Uttara North Metrorail Station to Motijheel at 7:10 am and the last metro train from Motijheel will leave at 8:40 pm to Uttara North Metrorail Station.
Obaidul Quader said that the work of the underground part of the metro rail will start by next September. The work on the flying part of MRT Line-5 will start in November.
Regarding extension of time of metro rail during Ijtema, Quader said, the authorities will decide on this.
Obaidul Quader said that the feasibility test for extending the line from Uttara to Tongi is going on.
