Awami League nominated candidate of Chittagong-16 Constituency Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury has threatened to check Tofail Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chittagong Banskhali Police Station. A general diary (GD) has been made by the police in this incident. GDT was conducted by the police at Banskhali police station last Friday.
Apart from this, Mustafizur Rahman Chowdhury’s behavior is also mentioned as a threat to free, fair and impartial elections in a report of the special branch of the police. It also mentions the threat to ‘see’ the officer-in-charge (OC) of Chittagong’s Banskhali police station against the parliamentarian.
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said that the Election Inquiry Committee has been given the responsibility to investigate the matter.
Chittagong District Police’s special branch report on Sunday mentioned that supporters of independent candidate and South District Awami League vice-president Mujibur Rahman clashed with supporters of Awami League candidate Mostafizur Rahman at upazila headquarters on December 19. In this incident, a follower of Mustafiz filed a case at the police station, mentioning the names of nine people and accusing 30 unidentified people as defendants on the day of the incident. Two days after that, on Friday, a follower of Mujibur became a plaintiff, mentioning the names of 11 people and filed a counter-case against 50 unknown people. At that time, Mustafizur Rahman asked the OC for taking the case of Mujibur’s follower.
Last Friday, he called the official number of Tofail Ahmed, the OC of Banskhali police station, and threatened to ‘take a look’ by abusing him. In the case of threatening the OC, a GD was made by the police at Banskhali police station on Friday.
