Medical admission question paper: 5 doctors arrested with 9

Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested nine people, including five doctors, for allegedly being involved in cheating the medical college admission test. From last Monday to Wednesday, raids were carried out in different parts of the country, including the capital, and they were arrested.

The arrested doctors are Dr. Faisal Ahmed Russell, Dr. Md. Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Dr. Taufkiul Hasan Rocky, Dr. Faisal Alam Badsha and Dr. Ibrar Alam.

According to CID, as part of the ongoing operation in the case of leakage of question papers in the medical admission examination, raids were carried out in Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Dhaka district. Bakul Roy Shravan and 5 doctors have been arrested. All of them have given confessional statements in court about their involvement in the medical question leak.

The names of other gang members and numerous students admitted to various medical colleges through dishonest means have been obtained from the accused, CID said.

The organization says in a press release that the members of the gang spread across the country can be found from the secret diary recovered from Jasim Uddin Bhuiyan Munnu, the mastermind of the gang.

According to the CID, the arrested UP chairman Sajjad is also an accused in another case of medical question leak in 2017. Sajjad earned more than crores of rupees by admitting numerous students of North Bengal to medical courses through unethical means. Sajjad’s name was mentioned in 164 by several accused arrested earlier and his name and phone number were also found in Jaseem’s secret diary.

Syedpur Upazila BITS Coaching Center Director Abdul Hafeez also owns a private hospital. The CID alleged that he had been getting his coaching students admitted to medical courses through unethical means for a long time after receiving questions through the arrested Dr. Zillur Hasan Roni. Many of these students have taken admission in various medical colleges.

In 2013, Sir Salimullah got medical admission after receiving a question from the arrested Dr. Sohanur Rahman Sohan Abdul Hafiz. Later joined Upazila Health Complex at Parvatipur as BCS Health Officer.

Dr. Faisal Ahmed Russel got 11th rank in National Merit after getting medical admission test questions in 2010 through UP Chairman Sajjad and got admission in Dhaka Medical College. He then joined Dinajpur Civil Surgeon Office as Surveillance Medical Officer in Tuberculosis Control Project. Later, CID said that he himself was involved in question-leaving business.

Arrested Dr. Toufiqul Islam Rocky was an important associate of the previously arrested Dr. Zillur Hasan Roni. Both of them passed from Rangpur Medical. Rocky also took classes at Beat’s Coaching. CID said that Rocky, Happu and Roni have admitted several students in various medical colleges of the country through unethical means.

CID said that Dr. Ibrar Alam, who passed from Rangpur Medical College, was also an associate of Dr. Zillur Hasan Roni. He received questions through Dr. Roni on the night before the entrance exam in 2013 and 2015 and provided them to several students for money. Many of them are admitted to various medical schools.

The arrested accused Raihanul Islam Sohan and Bakul Roy Shraban are residents of Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur. Raihanul received the leaked medical questionnaire through one of his uncles in 2015 and provided it to Bakul. Bakul sells that question to his 4 admitted younger brother. Later all 4 got chance in different medical colleges of the country.

The arrested Dr. Saiful Alam Badsha was admitted to Dhaka Medical College in 2010 after receiving questions from Sajjad Hossain. After that, he himself got involved in the quiz business. The CID alleged that he had given medical admission to several students through question paper in 2013 and 2015.

Earlier on August 13, the CID arrested 12 members of the medical questioning gang in various parts of the country. Six more people were arrested in September of the same year.
