Marcos Ortuño will be named Honorary Foreman of Holy Week 2024 in the Region of Murcia

The Minister of the Presidency, Spokesperson and Foreign Action of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Marcos Ortuñowill be named Honorary Foreman of the throne of the Risen Christ of Holy Week 2024 by Royal and Illustrious Sacramental Brotherhood of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno and Tercio Romano de Abarán.

The event will take place next Holy Sunday, March 31 at 10:15 a.m.in the St. Paul’s Church, before the beginning of the Encuentro procession. The parish of San Pablo is one of the oldest temples in the Region of Murcia. It was completed in the 16th century and expanded in the 18th century. In it there are carvings as important as a Reclining Christ and a Saint Peterboth by J. Planes, apart from numerous and very valuable relics.

After the event, and once the procession is over, we will return to the Church of San Pablo, where together with ecclesiastical and municipal authorities, brothers and faithful presentin front of the chapel of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, the Brotherhood honor bookso if you wish, you can sign your distinction and leave in writing what you consider and deem appropriate about the moments lived as Foreman.

Ortuño He was born in Yecla, and has a degree in Law from the University of Valencia, specializing in Private Law. He worked as a lawyer in a professional firm from 1996 to 2003. He was deputy mayor of the Yecla City Council from 1999 to 2003, serving in the delegations of Ecology, Environment, Commerce and Industry, and from 2007 to 2011, a period in which he was delegate councilor for Works and Urban Planning, as well as spokesperson.

He was general director of Transport and Ports, of the Department of Public Works, Housing and Transport of the Autonomous Community (2003-2007). Since September 2011 he has been mayor of Yecla. In April 2021 he was appointed Minister of the Presidency, Tourism and Sports, powers to which he added those of Culture in February 2022 and Spokesperson in January 2023.
