Hefazate Islam leader Maulana Mamunul Haque has also been granted bail by the Appellate Division in two cases filed at Sonargaon police station in Narayanganj. But he is not released now because there are more cases against him.
On Monday, a 6-member appellate bench led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan granted him bail.

Earlier, on October 16 last year, the Appellate Division stayed the bail granted by the High Court to Maulana Mamunul Haque, former Central Joint Secretary General of Hefazte Islam, in two cases filed at Sonargaon police station in Narayanganj. The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan gave this order.
The hearing of the application against the bail granted by the High Court to Maulana Mamunul Haque, the former Central Joint Secretary General of Hefazat Islam in two cases filed at Sonargaon Police Station of Narayanganj, was adjourned for three months by the Appellate Division. The appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddiqui passed the order.
On May 9 of that year, Justice Md. The High Court bench of Habibul Gani and Justice Ahmed Sohel granted bail to Mamunul Haque in two cases. After that, in view of the application of the state side, the chamber court of the Appellate Division suspended the bail in these two cases on May 10 of the year.
It is to be noted that on April 30, 2021, a case was filed by his second wife Jannat Ara Jharna in Narayanganj’s Sonargaon police station against Maulana Mamunul Haque, a prominent leader of Hefazte Islam, on the charge of rape under the pretense of marriage. Earlier, on April 3 of that year, local people arrested Mamunul Haque along with Jannat Ara Jharna at the Royal Resort of Sonargaon Police Station in Narayanganj. Mamunul claimed Jharna as his second wife when the police arrived there after getting information.
Then on April 18, Maulana Mamunul Haque, Central Joint Secretary General of Hefazat Islam and General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Committee, was arrested by Metropolitan Detective Police (DB). Two cases were registered against Mamunul Haque in Paltan police station of the capital and Sonargaon police station of Narayanganj in connection with violence and resort incident surrounding the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Later he was arrested in various cases.
