Actress Mahia Mahi is on the ballot in the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections. He is an independent candidate for Rajshahi-1 seat. After various incidents and dramas, the Election Commission declared his nomination valid yesterday. And after that, before the start of the election process, this ‘Agni’ famous actress paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s mausoleum in Tungipara, Gopalganj.
Mahi laid wreath at Bangabandhu’s tomb this Tuesday morning. Sharing several stills on social media, he wrote, ‘I started my election campaign by placing wreaths and praying at the grave of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. I want everyone to pray for me so that I can serve the people of my constituency by winning the elections on 7th January with a huge margin. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu.’
Mahiya Mahi was accompanied by her husband Rakib Sarkar and party leaders.
Incidentally, Mahi’s nomination was canceled on December 3 due to mismatched signatures and incorrect supporter information. He then said he would appeal. After checking, the Election Commission declared Mahir’s candidature as valid on December 11.
Earlier, Mahia Mahi sought Awami League nomination from Chapainawabganj-2 (Nachol-Gomstapur-Bholahat) seat. But in the end he did not get the nomination. He then became an independent candidate in his Nanabari constituency (Rajshahi-1). Tano is not only his Nanabari, he was born and raised there. This actress belongs to the people there.
