LPG price has increased again. The price of 12 kg cylinder has increased by 41 taka and now it is 1 thousand 474 taka. Last month also increased by 29 taka. The new prices, which are effective from 6 pm on Sunday, were announced at a press conference at the Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) office.
With this, the price of LPG has increased for 7 consecutive times. The price of LPG per kg is now 122 taka 86 paisa. BERC member Muhammad Yamin Chowdhury gave this information.
Propane and butane, the main components of liquefied petroleum gas, are imported from various countries including the Middle East. The price is also adjusted in the country every month based on the base price of Saudi Aramco.
Rising production costs and dollar prices are also affecting gas prices, said regulator BERC. Muhammad Yamin Chowdhury said, the Saudi contract price was 625.5 dollars last month. It’s up about $10 this month. Now the price is 636.5 dollars.
Meanwhile, LPG is not available in the market at that price even though the regulatory body has fixed it. Consumers have to shell out extra money due to lack of oversight.
Apart from this, BERC has increased the price of autogas used in cars by 2 taka per liter to 67 taka 68 paisa.
