"Lopera was very charismatic, but his time at Betis had more shadows"

CThus two decades of history at Real Betis Balompi came to an end in the early hours of Saturday to Sunday. Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, Verdiblanco president between 1996 and 2006, died due to diverticulitis. Lopera had been having difficult months and on March 23 her death was confirmed.

After starting as economic vice president in 1991, on June 30, 1992, Lopera became the largest shareholder of the Sevillian entity, which became Sociedad Anima Deportiva. He did it with the help of the Farusa company, which acquired 51.4%. With Lopera, among other things, Betis went up to First Division twice, won the Cup in 2005 and played in the Champions League in 2005-2006.

In MARCA Daily, MARCA’s daily podcast, we analyze with Roco Guevara, MARCA journalist in the Andalusian capital the significance of Lopera in Batic history.
