Leclerc: "Such a fast Sainz pushes me to be a better driver"

CHarles Leclerc, the one chosen between the two current Ferrari drivers to be Lewis Hamilton’s partner next season in Maranello, is trying to be positive after his teammate’s two races in Bahrain (podium) and Australia (victory).

“I could only have beaten him by simply being better. My qualifying on Saturday wasn’t good enough, nor was the second stint, and although it ended well, I think Carlos did better,” Charles acknowledged.

“But it’s been like that for the last three years, where basically we come to a race and Carlos is better and then I push and then he will be better in the next race and then we will improve like that. “As a driver it is very exciting to have such a fast teammate.”aade corts.

For all this, he laughs when asked if Sainz is undervalued in F1. He is not overrated by the British press lobby, but he certainly is by who he counts, the team leaders and teammates.

“Underrated? I think everyone knows Carlos’ value in the paddock. He is one of the highest-rated drivers in the paddock,” recognizes his teammate, whom he surpasses this year widely, although not in points, since he has run one race less.

“And he’s been extremely strong several times. So I don’t think he’s underrated, I think everyone knows what Carlos is worth. And that’s why I’ve said many times that I’m not too worried about his future, because I’m sure that many, many team leaders are…. “He doesn’t say it, but they’re probably talking to him!” concludes Charles, who went to congratulate him, visibly admired after the overwhelming victory in Australia.
