In Lakshmipur-4 (Ramgatti-Kamalnagar) constituency, there was a clash between boats and supporters of independent candidates. It has been alleged that the supporters of the boat symbol candidate Mosharef Hossain attacked the supporters of the former MP of Awami League independent eagle symbol candidate Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun. In this, upazila Jubo League general secretary Ahsan Uliah Hiron and seven people were injured. Apart from this, seven motorcycles were vandalized.
According to the police and party sources, the people of the boat candidate are asking Sumon Hossain, a supporter of Eagle, to work for the boat. At night, sitting in a tea shop in Saheberhat area, Suman and others were discussing about Eagle Marka. Suddenly, supporters of the boat, Zilla Parishad member Ghiyas Uddin Molla and others went to the shop and beat up Suman. As a result of this, Eagle’s supporters Upazila Jubo League General Secretary Ahsan Ulyah Hiron and others went to the spot. Later after coming from there, when the Noahats reached the open area, the supporters of the boat attacked them.
As a result of this, at around 12:30 in the night, there was a back and forth chase and clash between the two sides. Kamalnagar Upazila Jubo League general secretary and Charlorens UP former chairman Ahsan Ullah Hiron, Jubo League workers Maksudur Rahman Babu, Sumon Hossain and Mahfuzur Rahman were injured. The injured have been admitted to Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex. At this time, six motorcycles were vandalized. The incident took place around 12:30 pm in the open area of Nouakhat. Later, the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Former MP Abdullah Al Mamun, the candidate of Eagle Bird, said, “A group of workers-supporters led by boat supporter Ghiyas Uddin Molla attacked and injured several of my supporters. In addition, seven motorcycles were vandalized.
However, Chief Coordinator of Boat and General Secretary of Ramgati Upazila Awami League Professor Abdul Waheed said, ‘Eagle’s supporters beat up a worker after entering the election office of Boat in Saheberhat area. Due to this, there was a clash between the two sides. Some supporters of the boat were injured. But the attack is not correct.’
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamalnagar Police Station. Touhidul Islam confirmed the truth of the incident and said, ‘I have not received any complaint in this incident yet. The situation is under police control. The matter is being investigated.’
