According to the Indian media, Indian Express, this is the first time that an Indian Chief Minister has been arrested while in office. ED officials raided his house on Thursday evening to question him on a search warrant in an excise case. At that time he was arrested.

Soon after Kejriwal’s arrest, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) informed. He will perform the duties of Chief Minister from jail. The party also claims that there is no legal obstacle in this regard.

However, a source says that if Kejriwal runs the government from prison, constitutional complications may arise. They say it is about the time of Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav’s arrest. At that time he was forced to resign. For this reason, the Union Home Ministry is monitoring Kejriwal’s matter.

Citing several sources, the Indian media NDTV says that the central government has started taking legal steps to dismiss or remove Kejriwal from the post of a government official. The process followed when a government official is arrested will be followed.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s party has appealed to the Supreme Court. He may be taken to court tomorrow Friday.
The Indian Express says Kejriwal had earlier filed an application in the Delhi High Court on Thursday. He appealed to the High Court not to take strict action against him in the excise case. But the court rejected that application. After that, the ED conducted the operation.

ED has already arrested former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP MP Sanjay Singh in the Excise corruption case. Another minister Rajkumar Anand’s house was searched.

Meanwhile, India announced the schedule of Lok Sabha elections this week. This was announced by the country’s Chief Election Commissioner Rajeev Kumar last Saturday. He said that Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases. The first phase of voting will be held on April 19. And the seventh round of voting will be held on June 1. June 4 result release.
