Shahbagh and Karwan stations of metro rail will be launched on December 31. This information was given by Metrorail Managing Director MAN Siddique at the head office of DMTCL at Iskaton in the capital on Thursday. The Metrorail Authority has requested Dhaka Metropolitan Police to prohibit the flying of lanterns on both sides of the Metrorail for 1 kilometer on Thirtyfast Night.
The movement of Agargaon to Motijheel section of Metrorail started with three stations. After that everyone was interested when the rest of the stations will be opened. Finally, Shahbagh and Karwan Bazar stations are being opened on December 31. Besides, the managing director said that there will be continuous movement from 7 am to 8 pm in the month of March.
Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) MAN Siddique said that Karwan Bazar and Shahbag stations of metro rail are going to be opened on December 31. From that day, the metro will stop at these two stations and will run as per the current schedule.
Apart from this, the Metrorail authority has requested the police to issue a ban on flying lanterns across one kilometer on both sides of the Metrorail considering the wind movement on the thirty-fast night.
Now 1 lakh 35 to 55 thousand passengers travel in Metrorail every day. However, the amount of income spent so far will be disclosed in the form of a report, said the Managing Director of DMTCL.
