Renowned musician Kabir Suman was admitted to Calcutta Medical College Hospital with breathing problems. Manisha Dasgupta, who is close to the musician, announced the news in a Facebook post around 3 pm today.
Manisha Dasgupta wrote, ‘Kabir Suman was admitted to Calcutta Medical College this morning with breathing problem. Treatment is ongoing. There are restrictions on seeing doctors.’
It should be noted that Kabir Suman last came to Dhaka in November last year. His visit to Dhaka for a four-day Bangla Khayal workshop of service. Earlier, he came to Dhaka in October 2022.
Kabir Suman’s first modern music album ‘Tomake Chai’ was released in 1992. 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of this album that changed the course of Bengali music. On this occasion, the singer participated in a song program titled ’30 Years of Tomak Chai’ in Dhaka.
Talking about his illness on that occasion, Kabir Suman said, ‘I have an illness, due to this illness I cannot write by hand, nor can I play the guitar. I can’t do it any other day. Even sitting continuously causes problems. Sometimes I feel like singing while lying down! But I have no regrets for that. Thanks to the Gurus, I can still sing a little bit, that’s the joy.’
