Junior Chamber International (JCI) Dhaka Metro has formed its Board for 2024 with a commitment to positive change and leadership development. They will work for positive change through collective efforts in line with the national goals of the Board.
Founded in 1915, Junior Chamber International is a non-profit international non-profit organization of young professionals and entrepreneurs aged 18 to 40 from 124 countries around the world. Its membership in Bangladesh is more than 6 thousand. These members are working together for the development of the community and the country.
A platform for young leaders, JCI Dhaka Metro brings together talented youth from various sectors, who are dedicated to bring about positive social change. The names of the new board members were announced at the JCI Bangladesh office in Banani, Dhaka on Tuesday. In 2024, the Board will manage all its projects in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the 8th Five Year Plan. In addition, they will work on issues of global importance, such as quality education, good health, gender equality and climate.
Working at the United Nations. Shariful Islam was elected as the president of this board. He has been working in media and communication sector for more than 15 years.
Banglalink’s Head of Corporate Communications Tauhid Ahmed and businessman and entrepreneur Anand Kutum assumed the post of Local Executive Vice President. Media personality Farabi Hafeez, businessman Belal Munna, communication officer Tanzim Ferdous and researcher Naeem Arefin are on the board as vice presidents. Entrepreneur Mustaqeem Hasan has taken responsibility as Secretary General. Other important posts include Syed Manjurul Haque Rony (General Legal Counsel), Biswajit Kumar Pal (Treasurer), Wahida Zaman Sithi (Training Commissioner), and Elahi Shubo (Executive Assistant to the LP).
Directors include- Imran Hossain, Raihan Masood, Sangeeta Aparajita, Alam Pintu, Taufiq Hasan, Dis Islam Raj, Shahadat Hossain Deepta and ATM Rahat Mohammad.
After taking responsibility, the president of the board. Shariful Islam said, ‘Our aim is to ensure that everyone on this board is not just a member, but that everyone can be a change maker. Let us come together in a commitment to build a society where leadership and community spirit flourish.’
He further said, ‘We will continue various activities in 2024 to establish youth as change makers with emphasis on leadership development and social development work.’
The primary focus of the newly formed board is to work in alignment with the JCI Bangladesh Vision 2024 to ensure community empowerment, drive growth and contribute to building a Smart Bangladesh. Young Professionals believes in youth leadership for positive change and is committed to providing these board members with the tools, resources and opportunities they need to achieve leadership.
The new board was announced during the general council of JCI Dhaka Metro. Imran Qadir, 2024 JCI Bangladesh National President, SM Navir Saad Akash, JCI Bangladesh BDC Chairperson, Sanama Faiz, 2023 JCI Dhaka Metro Local President, JCI Bangladesh National Governing Body Members and JCI Dhaka Metro members attended the board formation ceremony.
JCI is a platform for young leaders for meaningful change with a prestigious consultative relationship with key international organizations such as the Council of Europe and UNESCO. JCI Bangladesh stands as an important force in this global movement.
