Job students gave 24 hours ultimatum, 6 demands

Jagannath University (JUB) student Fairuz Avantika, a student of Jagannath University (JUB), has 6 demands, including speedy trial of those accused of instigating her suicide. The students said that if their demands are not met within 24 hours, a larger movement will be called.

Besides, they have planned to surround the Vice-Chancellor’s office at 11 am on Monday. They made these demands in the protest rally on the university campus on Saturday afternoon. The whole university campus is in uproar since morning due to Avantika’s suicide.

The demands of the students are – a fair investigation into Avantika’s murder; Accused Deen Islam and Amman must be arrested and brought to justice; The two accused should be expelled permanently; Action should be taken against those who are doing victim blaming, safety of Avantika’s family should be ensured; The university authorities should be sued and the women harassment cell should be made more active.

Ordinary students are protesting with placards demanding fair trial.

Earlier, the university administration ordered the expulsion and arrest of classmate Amman Siddiqui in connection with Avantika’s death. Assistant Proctor Deen Islam accused of assisting him was also dismissed and dismissed from the Proctoral Body.

The administration has made a high-powered investigation committee of 5 members headed by the dean of the law faculty to investigate the incident. The committee will report within 7 working days.

Avantika committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Bagichagao, Comilla on Friday night. Earlier, he blamed the assistant proctor of the university and a classmate for his death in a Facebook status.

Ever since Avantika’s death, Jagannath University has been in uproar demanding justice for those responsible. In continuation of this, a protest rally was held at Comilla’s Pubali square today at noon.
