Ilyas Hossain Bablu, Mayor of Jaldhaka Municipality of Nilphamari, passed away. At 11:50 pm on Friday, the doctor of the emergency department of Jaldhaka Health Complex declared him dead. He was 62 years old at the time of his death.

According to family sources, Mayor Elias visited marginalized people and distributed blankets in different parts of the municipal area throughout the day on Friday. At night, he distributed blankets among the cold people in Satighat area of ​​the municipality. Mayor Bablu was shivering during the distribution of blankets. At the end of the program, the mayor collapsed on the ground while getting into the car. At that time, he was rushed to Jaldhaka Upazila Health Complex and the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Countless people including municipal authorities, Jaldhaka Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdul Waheed Bahadur, relatives, well-wishers rushed to the hospital on the news of Mayor Bablu’s death.

Mayor Elias Hossain Bablu came from Trinamool to Awami League politics. He was directly involved with various social, voluntary and religious organizations. He was one of the members of Jaldhaka Municipal Awami League. Apart from this, Mayor Bablu served as the vice president of Jaldhaka Municipal Farmers League. In the municipal elections in 2011, he was elected as the mayor of Jaldhaka municipality. He managed the municipality successfully. He became known as the leader of soil and people to the general public. Then in 2021, Mayor Elias Hossain Bablu was elected mayor for the second time.

Mayor Ilyas Hossain Bablu has left numerous family members including his wife, two sons and a daughter in his personal life.

On Saturday at 2:30 pm, the first funeral will be held at the Sheikh Russell Stadium ground in Jaldhaka and after the second funeral at his home village North Kazirhat, Bad Achar will be buried in the family cemetery.#
