Jahidul is the lyricist of Chirinnidra ‘Amar ae two chokh pathar to nai’

Zahidul Haque, the lyricist-writer of the timeless song ‘Amar e two chokh pathar to nai, tae ke ken kosare sare jae jae?’, has passed away. He died today Monday (January 15) at 12:40 PM while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical Hospital. The news of his death has been confirmed by poet Ghazi Rafiq.

He told the media that Zahidul Haque had a stroke on the 20th of last month. Then Bangabandhu was admitted to Sheikh Mujib Medical University. At one point he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

He passed secondary school in 1963 from Nagendrachandra High School, Chittagong. Graduated from Feni Government College in 1966 and Graduated from Dhaka University in 1969.

He has worked as a Fellow of Bangla Academy and Senior Editor and Broadcaster of Radio Deutsche Welle. He was Senior Assistant Editor of Dainik Sangam. He served as Deputy Director General of Bangladesh Radio.
Some of his notable songs include ‘Swadhanta Tumi Amar Kajal Eso’ (Artist-Shammi Akhtar), ‘Swapn Amar Kajal Pukur Tumi’ (Artist-Andrew Kishore), ‘Je Deshe Batas Is Heavy In The Touch Of Smriti’ (Artist- Subir Nandi & Samina Chowdhury). , ‘Tomar Priyatma Kone Tumi Thile Manohar’ (Artist- Samina Chowdhury), ‘Katedin Pari Dikha, Good Are You’ (Artist- Hasina Mumtaz & Mohammad Hannan), ‘I will catch you in the cage of your love (Artist- Runa Laila) etc.

Jahidul Haque’s poems, novels, short stories and songs have published 18 books. His first book of poetry was published in 1982 with the title ‘Pocket Abdali Megh’. His notable published works include—’Your Homer’, ‘The Blue Embassy’, ‘That Breath’, ‘A Bunch of Poems’, ‘This Train’s Name is Garcia Lorca’, ‘I Am Alone at the Festival’ etc.
