As many as 80 vehicles got stuck on the iron triangle-shaped angle left on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway. These vehicles broke down across the 29 km area of the Sitakunda-Mirsarai section of the highway from Friday evening to 12 midnight.
According to the police, iron triangle shaped angle was lying in Sitakunda and Mirsrai area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway. As many as 80 vehicles have been damaged by the wheels stuck on these sharp iron legs. A suspected welding engineer has been arrested in this incident.
Chittagong District Mirsrai Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Md. Monirul Islam said, ’50 cars broke down in Mirsrai section. A welding engineer suspected in this incident has been arrested.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sitakunda Police Station. Kamal Uddin said, ‘The matter came to our attention around 10 o’clock on Friday night. At least 20 vehicles broke down on the Faujdarhat Bayezid Bostami link road in Sitakunda due to a triangular iron piece embedded in the wheel. After that, they got the news that at least 10 more cars broke down at different places on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
He also said that these sharp iron sheets were left for the purpose of vandalizing the highway.
