The investigation committee found the violation of code of conduct against Awami League candidate AKM Bahauddin Bahar in Comilla-6 seat for giving violence and provocative speech during the election campaign.
This committee has written to the Election Commission today to take action against him on Monday.
It was informed in the letter that on December 18, in a courtyard meeting in Comilla, Bahauddin Bahar directed the leaders and activists that if Jamaat-BNP workers are found in favor of any candidate, they should be broken.
Although this statement was dismissed as a warning against those who sabotaged the election, the Election Investigation Committee mentioned in their letter that law enforcement will take legal action against anyone who tries to disrupt or obstruct the election.
Therefore, no candidate can direct his workers to take the law into their hands like this. Bahauddin Bahar’s instructions to the workers included disrupting the festive and fear-free election atmosphere.
The inquiry committee has recommended action under the relevant sections of the Representation of the People Act (RPO) and the Election Code of Conduct. It should be noted that according to the relevant provisions of the RPO, there is a provision of one to five years sentence and fine and according to the election code of conduct, a maximum sentence of six months and a fine of 50,000 taka.
