The pair of John Wright and Sourav Ganguly first taught India to play bold cricket. India won the Champions Trophy under the former New Zealand player. The coach who led India to the final in the 2003 World Cup believes that his former team has a good chance of winning the 2024 T20 World Cup.

But the presence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the team will be a problem for India.

After the 2022 World Cup, Kohli and Rohit did not play any T20 for the national team. However, these two are sure to be in the team in 2024 World Cup. Finally the two are seen against Afghanistan.

But many people think that the problem that was evident in the 2022 World Cup in the Indian team, Kohli and Rohit will return again. Rohit, Kohli or KL Rahul – all three basically play the anchor role. With such three in the top order, it is almost impossible for a team to score big regularly.

John Wright made a post about it on social media X (formerly Twitter). Wrote, ‘India can win T20 World Cup. But if selectors choose players based on past success rather than big hitters, then good luck to them. But I wouldn’t bet on them. The development of the T20 format is dynamic (for youngsters). That’s what it’s like to see.’

India did not go well in the last two T20 World Cups. India could not reach the semi-finals of the 2021 World Cup. In the 2022 World Cup, the team was knocked out of the semi-finals after losing to England by 10 wickets. The selectors still cannot show the courage to drop either Kohli or Rohit in the team’s batting lineup.

Rohit was dismissed for zero runs in the first two matches of the series against Afghanistan. On the other hand, Kohli scored 29 runs off 16 balls in the second match. In both the matches, the young batsmen of the team brought easy victory.
