Dewan Zahid Ahmed Tulu, the independent candidate of this constituency and district Awami League treasurer, held a press conference to protest the false propaganda against the supporters of the boat symbol candidate Mumtaz Begum in the Manikganj-2 constituency, and the threat of shooting and killing the workers along with obstructing the election work.

He held this press conference at his own residence in Bymile area of ​​the upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

Candidate Dewan Zahid Ahmed Tulu said in the press conference, “On Tuesday afternoon, Vice President of Upazila Awami League Ali Iskandar, a supporter of Mumtaz Begum, threatened to shoot and kill five people, including activist Abdur Razzak, when they asked for votes in Erta village of Talebpur Union of the upazila.

He complained and said, ‘Ali Iskandar, the leader of Awami League, threatened to strangle my workers, cut their hands and shoot them if they worked for Truck Marka. Earlier, one of my workers was beaten up in Harirampur and sent to the hospital. We have reported the matter in writing to the Upazila Returning Officer. I have given a written complaint to the police station.

Dewan Zahid Ahmed Tulu also said, ‘The election campaign was going well. However, now as the election days are approaching and the violence against activist supporters is increasing. Now we will go to the voters in the elections or police the police station or run to the returning officer.’

He said, ‘People’s love, people’s power is with me. There is no reason to withdraw from voting because of two or four chunopunti threats. They can’t do anything to me.’

At that time, Baira Union Parishad Chairman Dewan Jinnah Lathu, Municipal Awami League Organizing Secretary Monirul Islam Palash, Upazila Jubo League General Secretary Ramiz Uddin, Upazila Volunteer League convener Ilyas Hossain and other leaders and activists were present at the press conference.

It should be noted that Manikganj-2 consists of (three unions of Singair, Harirampur and Sadar). A total of 10 candidates are contesting in this seat.
