The chamber court has ordered the parliament secretariat to administer oath to Aolad Hossain, the newly elected independent candidate of Dhaka-4 constituency in the 12th national parliament election. At the same time, the High Court’s order not to administer oath to him has been suspended for 8 weeks.
Appellate Division Chamber Justice M Inayetur Rahim gave this order in the morning.
Meanwhile, Awlad Hossain’s lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan told the court that although 297 newly elected parliamentarians took oath today in Sangsad Bhavan, his client Awlad Hossain could not take oath due to the writ of the boat candidate Sanjida Khanam.
Khurshid Alam Khan said, ‘The Honorable Chamber Judge suspended the order of the High Court for 8 weeks. And the Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat has been instructed to administer oath of office to Awlad Hossain.’
Earlier, on Tuesday, the boat candidate filed a writ seeking re-polling in 18 centers of Dhaka-4 Constituency, alleging vote fraud. They also applied to the Election Commission to investigate these irregularities.
Independent candidate Awlad Hossain was elected in this seat after defeating Awami League candidate Sanjida Khanom by 2 thousand 198 votes.
