In the six months of the current financial year, income tax collection has increased by 16.09 percent. According to National Board of Revenue (NBR), direct tax collection from July to December was Tk 51 thousand 824 crore. Which is eight and a half thousand crores less than the target.
These data were reviewed at the capital’s Agargaon revenue building on Sunday afternoon.
At that time, the officials said that the amount of income tax collected during the same period of the last financial year was 44 thousand 742 crores. It was informed in the meeting that 28 lakh 82 thousand income tax returns have been deposited till December. Which is about four lakh more than the same period of last financial year.
NBR chairman Abu Hena Mo Rahmatul Munim has given instructions to increase the scope of showing proof of return submission to increase income tax return submission. He also directed to strengthen monitoring to increase tax collection.
