Inauguration of e-passport program at Bangladesh Consulate General in Toronto

The e-passport program was inaugurated with much fanfare on January 20 at the Bangladesh Consulate General, Toronto. This information was given in a press release.

It was informed in the notification that the Director General of Immigration and Passport Directorate Major General Md. was present as the chief guest. Nurul Anwar. As a special guest, the additional secretary of the security service department of the Ministry of Home Affairs was Md. Khairul Kabir Menon. Officials from Dhaka related to e-passport activities and technical team of e-passport project were present in the event.

Besides, local leaders, members of Bangladeshi diaspora, Bangladeshi students, e-passport service applicants, members of print and electronic media and consulate officials were present.

E-passport and automated border control management is a milestone in the continuation of the current government’s development plan. The chief guest briefed all those present about the progress of e-passport activities in Bangladesh embassies inside the country and abroad and exchanged views on e-passport services with the guests present. After the formal inauguration, the chief guest handed over e-passport enrollment slips to some applicants.

Acting Consul General Fahmida Sultana at the beginning of her speech paid deep tribute to the memory of the greatest Bengali of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and said, ‘Today is a very happy day for the members of the Bangladeshi diaspora in Canada and the Bangladeshi students studying here. From now on you can take e-passport service from Bangladesh Consulate General, Toronto.

Fahmida Sultana also said, ‘The e-passport service program was launched in accordance with the implementation and continuation of the outline of the transformation from Digital Bangladesh to Smart Bangladesh by the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We are proud to be an active partner in building a Smart Bangladesh through the launch of e-passport program at Bangladesh Consulate General, Toronto.’

The Acting Consul General expressed the hope of building the golden Bangladesh of the father of the nation’s dream and a developed and prosperous Smart Bangladesh by the year 2041 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with the joint efforts of all.
