In 2 out of 3 constituencies in Sherpur district, there are strong independent candidates against Awami League boat candidates. 316 out of 424 polling stations in these three constituencies are at risk. Among them there are 173 high risk centers.
Among the three constituencies of the district, Sherpur-2 (Nakla-Nalitabari) constituency has no strong candidate against Awami League presidium member Begum Matia Chowdhury. As a result, the risk center is the least in this seat.
On the other hand, Jatiya Sangsad Whip hero freedom fighter Atiur Rahman Atik’s strong rival in Sherpur-1 Sadar constituency is District Awami League General Secretary independent candidate Chanowar Hossain Chanu. Jhenaigati Upazila Awami League President ASM Waresh Naeem is a tough competitor against Awami League’s new candidate ADM Shahidul Islam in Sherpur-3 (Shrivardi-Jhenaigati) seat.
All 270 constituencies have been identified as vulnerable due to electoral heat in these two constituencies. Among them, 173 centers are more vulnerable.
There are 12 Ansars including 2 policemen for the security of each vulnerable center.
48 members of RAB, 160 members of army, 100 members of BGB, 1 thousand 179 members of police and 5 thousand 157 members of Ansar are deployed in the district.
Apart from this, 20 judges and executive magistrates will perform the duties of mobile courts.
Meanwhile, at 4 o’clock in the morning today, the assistant returning officers sent the ballot papers to the polling centers under heavy security.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Al Khairum said, “We have made all kinds of preparations to hold peaceful elections.”
