Three leaders of various units of Awami League have been exempted from all posts and party activities for opposing the boat in Brahmanbaria-3 (Sadar and Vijaynagar) constituencies. The recommendation of their permanent expulsion is being sent to the Central Awami League.
The three leaders who lost their positions are – Brahmanbaria district Awami League former vice-president Taj Md. Yachin, municipal Awami League organizing secretary and municipal councilor Omar Farooq Jiban and Sadar Upazila Awami League member and Sultanpur Union Parishad chairman Sheikh Md. Omar Farooq.
Sources of the party said that Bangladesh Awami League nominated boat symbol candidate for Brahmanbaria-3 seat, district Awami League president RM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury MP, took a public stand against the boat symbol, and it was decided to expel three people in an emergency meeting of the district Awami League on Monday. District Awami League president RM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury presided over the meeting held at the party office in Haldarpara of the city.

District Awami League Acting General Secretary Montu confirmed the party’s decision against the 3 leaders and said, ‘The said three leaders have acted against the party line and ideals by openly standing against the candidate and symbol of the party in Sadar constituency. They have been exempted from party posts and activities in order to protect party discipline. It was decided in the meeting to send a recommendation to the center for the permanent expulsion of these 3 people from the party.
