According to Omar Farooq Chowdhury’s affidavit submitted to the Election Commission, he had Tk 30 lakh in his bank in 2008. Total assets including furniture worth Tk 1 lakh 75 are shown as Tk 1 crore 56 lakh 58 thousand 709. Apart from this, two financial institutions showed a loan of 18 crore 77 lakh 39 thousand taka. 70 bigha of agricultural land is shown in his own name. In addition, 40 lakh 39 thousand rupees of wealth including 15 gold bars in the name of his wife.

In 2023 Farooq Chowdhury has 9 crore 38 lakh 606 taka deposited in the bank. 18 lakh car. 8 lakh 33 thousand rupees bond. Total assets are shown as 13 crore 47 lakh 77 thousand 773 taka including cash 85 lakh 69 thousand 666 taka. In addition, assets of Tk 1 crore 21 lakh 41 thousand 780 including a house worth Tk 66 lakh in the name of wife.

In 2008, Farooq Chowdhury’s cash was 2 lakh 50 thousand 750 taka. 62 thousand 450 taka in 2013. 90 lakh 95 thousand 602 taka in 2018 and 85 lakh 96 thousand 666 taka in cash according to 2023 affidavit.

In 2008, Farooq Chowdhury’s dependents had no land, but in 2023, their assets including 60 bighas of land were shown as 51 lakh 10 thousand 666 taka.

Local political leaders say that now the public representatives are gradually becoming dishonest. Public service from them is neglected.

Representatives of civil society say that parliamentarians do not want to give real information now. Wives and children are becoming millionaires overnight.

Mizanur Rahman, coordinator of Rajshahi Sujan, said, ‘Those who elect parliamentarians do not show their real wealth. There is a huge difference in wealth between those who gave affidavits in the past and those who are giving them now. Besides, their wives and children are also becoming millionaires overnight. I think these are non-statutory income.’
