A court of the country sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison and fined 787 million rupees in the Toshakhana corruption case. The Islamabad Accountability Court announced this verdict on Wednesday. This information was given in the report of the Pakistan-based media Dawn.

The special court of the country sentenced Imran Khan and his former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to 10 years in jail in the case of leaking diplomatic cables on Tuesday. General elections are scheduled to be held in Pakistan next week. Before this, the Pakistani courts are giving verdicts against Imran one after another.

Toshakhana means government treasury. In Pakistan, any gifts received from foreign leaders must be deposited in the government treasury. But there have been allegations that Imran Khan earned money by selling the gifts he received instead of depositing them in the government treasury. The case that has been filed in this incident is called the Tosakhana case.

Toshakhana was established in Pakistan in 1974. This rule applies not only to the Prime Minister, but to every person sitting in a constitutional position.
